Pylorus-preserving segmental gastrectomy (A) is a variation of distal gastrectomy that removes the distal stomach but maintains the pyloric sphincter (shaded region between line 2 and line 3). Gastrointestinal continuity can be restored by anastomosing the remnant stomach together in an end-to-end fashion.
