(A) Papillary dermal interstitial infiltrate associated with linear aggregation of neoplastic lymphocytes along the dermal-epidermal junction.
(B) Adjacent section stained for CD4 emphasizing this linear pattern of early epidermotropism.
(C) Early plaque-stage disease with single cell epidermotropism by atypical lymphocytes into a "passive" epidermal layer.
(D) Plaque-stage disease characterized by prominent clusters of atypical lymphocytes within the epidermis (Pautrier microabscesses).
