Inky cap mushroom ("Coprinus plicatillis")

Inky cap mushroom ("Coprinus plicatillis")
This mushroom, which is similar to Coprinus atramentarius, causes a disulfiram-like reaction because of the inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by the toxin, coprine. The onset of effects (eg, flushing, headache, tachycardia, chest pain, anxiety) typically occurs when ethanol is consumed after mushroom ingestion. Even remote ethanol consumption (up to seven days after mushroom ingestion) may produce toxicity.
