Carotid artery pulse tracing and phonocardiogram of aortic stenosis as heard at the 2^nd right intercostal space. S1 (mitral and tricuspid valve closure) is followed by an ejection click (opening of the stenotic aortic valve) and a midsystolic ejection murmur of aortic stenosis. A single S2 results from delayed closure of the aortic valve, which occurs simultaneously with pulmonic valve closure.
