The collapsed right middle lobe has a characteristic configuration on CT scan: it has the shape of a triangle abutting the right aspect of the cardiac silhouette (arrow). The appearance has been compared to an ice cream cone, the collapsed lobe representing the cone and the cardiac silhouette the ice cream.
