Freedom from sustained VT, VF or SCD in ACM

Freedom from sustained VT, VF or SCD in ACM
This report compared 119 patients with IDCM and 75 patients with ACM. Among those with ACM, 47 abstained from alcohol consumption and 28 continued to drink. Major arrhythmic events were evaluated, including sustained VT, VF, and SCD, and the event-free survival for each group of patients was determined. The thin dashed red line indicates patients with ACM and alcohol abstinence, the thick solid green line indicates IDCM, and the thin solid blue line indicates patients with ACM without abstinence. Compared with patients with ACM and alcohol abstinence, the relative risk of events was 8.0 for patients with ACM without abstinence and 7.3 for patients with IDCM.
IDCM: idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy; ACM: alcohol-induced cardiomyopathy; VT: ventricular tachycardia; VF: ventricular fibrillation; SCD: sudden cardiac death.
