Staging classification for Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas[1,2]

Staging classification for Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas[1,2]
Stage I Involvement of a single lymph node region (stage I)
Stage II Involvement of two or more lymph node regions or lymphatic structures on the same side of the diaphragm alone (stage II)
Stage III Involvement of lymph node regions on both sides of the diaphragm (stage III)
Stage IV Involvement of one or more organs or tissues outside the lymphatic system, with or without involvement of nearby lymph nodes
The letters A and B are used to indicate if certain symptoms occurred in the six months before diagnosis. A person is said to have "B symptoms" if he or she had: unexplained fever (higher than 100.4 F or 38 C), night sweats, or unexplained weight loss during the six months prior to diagnosis. For example a person with stage II disease who had B symptoms has stage IIB disease.
In contrast, a person without B symptoms has stage IIA disease.
