Estimated projected height using current growth channel

Estimated projected height using current growth channel
Projected height provides a crude estimate of adult height in healthy children. Projected height is determined by extrapolating the child's growth along the current channel to the 18- to 20-year mark. In the example above, the 6-year-old male is 43.5 inches (point A), which is at the 10th percentile. The projected adult height is the 10th percentile height for a 20-year-old (point B): 66 inches.
Projected height is only weakly correlated with actual adult height, especially for young children, and has minimal predictive value for children younger than 2 years. Projected height does not provide a valid estimate of adult height in children with delayed or advanced bone age or a variety of pathologic causes of short stature.
