Fracture geometry refers to the orientation of the fracture to the long axis of the bone.
Fractures are classified as:
- Transverse - perpendicular to long axis of bone
- Oblique - tangential to long axis of bone
- Spiral - tangential and spiraling around the shaft
- Longitudinal - parallel to long axis of bone
- A combination of two or more of the above
