Note that both muscles are atrophic and have increased echogenicity (more so in the deltoid) that reduces the distinction of the bone edge. These images are from a 72-year-old patient with limb girdle dystrophy and prominent proximal weakness (MRC grade 3 of 5) in these muscles.
