Intrauterine pressure in dysmenorrhea with and without NSAID therapy

Intrauterine pressure in dysmenorrhea with and without NSAID therapy
In women with primary dysmenorrhea, treatment with meclofenamate produces a decrease in mean intrauterine pressure as recorded by an intrauterine microtransducer (blue line). Placebo treatment did not decrease intrauterine pressure (red line). A reduction in intrauterine pressure was associated with a decrease in reported dysmenorrhea.
NSAID: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Data adapted from: Smith RP. The dynamics of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory therapy for primary dysmenorrhea. Obstet Gynecol 1987; 70:785.
