Focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver on MRI

Focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver on MRI

T2-weighted image demonstrates focal nodular hyperplasia with mild hyperintensity compared with surrounding liver (A, arrow); T1-weighted precontrast image shows lesion is isointense to surrounding parenchyma (B, arrow).

Hepatic arterial phase image demonstrates hyperenhancing mass with feeding vessel that becomes isointense on portal venous image (C and D, arrowheads).

Coronal and axial hepatobiliary phase images show retention of contrast in focal nodular hyperplasia (E and F, dashed arrows) which is slightly hyperintense to surrounding liver.
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
