Indications for intensive or monitored care in acute pancreatitis

Severe acute pancreatitis^*

Patients who do not meet criteria for severe acute pancreatitis, but have one or more of the following parameters:

Pulse <40 or >150 beats/minute
Systolic arterial pressure <80 mmHg or mean arterial pressure <60 mmHg or diastolic arterial pressure >120 mmHg
Respiratory rate >35 breaths/minute
Serum sodium <110 mEq/L or >170 mEq/L
Serum potassium <2.0 mEq/L or >7.0 mEq/L
PaO₂ <50 mmHg
pH <7.1 or >7.7
Serum glucose >800 mg/dL (44 mmol/L)
Serum calcium >15 mg/dL (3.75 mmol/L)
Anuria
Coma
