The intraabdominal esophageal length should be measured from the left crus to the angle of His/GEJ during PEH repair

Measuring intra-esophageal length from the left crus to the angle of His/GEJ. This distance should be a minimum of 2.5 cm with no traction on the esophagus and no bougie in place pushing the esophagus further into the abdomen. In this instance, the esophagus is clearly short.
