(A) The young man in these photographs has a neutral to varus hindfoot (indicated by the black line) due to a cavus forefoot.
(B) When a wooden block is placed under the fifth (lateral) ray of the foot, it allows the flexible hindfoot to correct to a normal valgus angulation (black line).
Placing a block to assess foot mobility may be referred to as the Coleman standing lateral block test.
