Talocalcaneal coalition oblique and special view radiographs

Talocalcaneal coalition oblique and special view radiographs

The radiographs above show talocalcaneal coalition.

(A) Oblique radiograph of the hindfoot of a 12-year-old boy shows obliteration of the middle facet of the subtalar joint (arrow). Note the prominent talar beak (dashed arrow).

(B) A Harris-Beath view confirms the osseous talocalcaneal coalition (arrows). The Harris-Beath view is a specialized weightbearing foot radiograph showing the calcaneal body, middle facet of the subtalar joint, and sustentaculum of the talus.
