Acquired cystic disease of the kidney on ultrasound and MRI with a cystic renal cell carcinoma

Acquired cystic disease of the kidney on ultrasound and MRI with a cystic renal cell carcinoma
Longitudinal ultrasound (A) through the inferior right kidney in a patient with acquired cystic disease of the kidney shows a lesion with peripheral nodularity (arrows). Axial T2-weighted (B) and axial postcontrast, fat-saturated T1-weighted (C) MRI confirm that the lesion is primarily cystic with peripheral enhancing nodularity (arrows). On nephrectomy, this was a cystic renal cell carcinoma.
Inf pole long: inferior pole longitudinal view; MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; Rt: right.
