Medullary thyroid cancer: Findings on fine-needle aspirate

(A) Fine-needle aspirate showing medullary cancer of the thyroid. The nuclei of the tumor cells are placed eccentrically and are larger and more pleomorphic than those of normal follicular cells.

(B) Immunocytochemical staining is positive for calcitonin (brown staining).
