Suggested epinephrine dosing in children if a 0.1 mg autoinjector is NOT available

Suggested epinephrine dosing in children if a 0.1 mg autoinjector is NOT available
Manufacturer weight range[1] Suggested weight range to account for lack of ideal doses[2]
0.15 mg autoinjector 15 to 30 kg (33 to 66 lbs) 7.5 to <25 kg (16.5 to <55 lbs)
0.3 mg autoinjector ≥30 kg (≥66 lbs) ≥25 kg (≥55 lbs)
The suggested weight range addresses lack of precision in dosing with autoinjectors and is based on expert opinion and risk and benefit of selecting a fixed dose based on patient weight.[2] Dosing decisions should be individualized according to patient characteristics and caretaker preferences (eg, severity of allergy, comorbid conditions).
