Jaw thrust maneuver in a child

Jaw thrust maneuver in a child
With the jaw thrust maneuver, the clinician can open the airway and limit neck motion. While maintaining the head and neck in a neutral position as shown, hook the middle finger of both hands under the angle of the jaw (asterisk) while providing countertraction with both thumbs on the forehead. Lift the mandible upward (arrow) to open the mouth and move the tongue anteriorly. The clinician can place their elbows on the surface above the patient's head to brace themselves and maintain the jaw thrust more comfortably.
