Dysplastic cerebellar gangliocytoma (Lhermitte-Duclos disease)

Dysplastic cerebellar gangliocytoma (Lhermitte-Duclos disease)
Dysplastic cerebellar gangliocytoma (Lhermitte-Duclos disease) in 2 different patients. Transverse axial FLAIR (A), sagittal (B) and transverse axial (C) T1-weighted, and postcontrast T1-weighted (D) MRIs show a mass in the left cerebellar hemisphere. On FLAIR (A), the mass is relatively hypointense because of diffuse calcification confirmed on CT (not shown). Cerebellar folia are widened with a characteristic striated appearance, a pattern also referred to as "laminated" or "corduroy." Finely striated contrast enhancement is demonstrated (D). In another patient, noncontrast CT (E) and transverse axial FLAIR (F), T2-weighted (G), T1-weighted (H), and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted (I) MRIs demonstrate a right cerebellar mass with a lamellated appearance that is characteristic of dysplastic gangliocytoma.
FLAIR: fluid-attenuated inversion recovery; MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; CT: computed tomography.
