ANC: acute necrotic collection; CT: computed tomography; WOPN: walled-off pancreatic necrosis.
* Infected necrosis is diagnosed radiologically by the presence of gas bubbles in the collection. Severe symptoms of a sterile necrosis include intestinal or biliary obstruction, worsening organ system failure, and persistent unwellness of the patient.
¶ Complications and mortality associated with early intervention may be high and such interventions are performed only in centers with expertise.
Δ Endoscopic drainage requires the collection to have a mature wall that abuts the stomach or duodenum.
