Fifty-five males with cardiomyopathy and alcohol use disorder. At the 1-year mark following abstinence, the average improvement in LVEF was 13%. At 4 years, improvement continued in those who were abstinent and those who reduced drinking to moderate levels.
LVEF: left ventricular ejection fraction.
