Bath additives for patients with ichthyosis

Bath additives for patients with ichthyosis
Bath additive[1] Tips and recommendations
Sodium bicarbonate Add 2 handfuls of baking soda to 1 tub of water (to create a solution with an approximate pH 8). Use up to 3 times per week.
Diluted bleach baths (sodium hypochlorite)

Add 0.5 to 1 cup of regular bleach to 1 tub of water for 0.01%.

NOTE: Effectively reduces bacterial odor, despite being <0.025% concentration claimed to be bactericidal.
Diluted vinegar Add 1 part vinegar to 5 parts bathwater.
Salt baths Per the FIRST website: Add 0.25 lb of salt per gallon of water; 5 lbs in 0.5 tub or 7.5 lbs in 1 tub to create a concentration of salt close to seawater (approximately 3.5%). Lower salt concentrations may still show benefit in some patients.
