Central pontine myelinolysis

Central pontine myelinolysis
Fifty-year-old individual with alcohol use disorder was treated for hyponatremia and developed decreased consciousness and de-efferented state (ie, patient was not able to speak or move face or limbs) secondary to osmotic demyelination syndrome. Sagittal T1-weighted (A) and transverse axial T2-weighted (B) MRIs demonstrate abnormal signal intensity in basis pontis consistent with central pontine myelinolysis.
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
