The bone scan demonstrates avascularity and revascularization in osteonecrosis of the hip. Serial anteroposterior radiographs of the right hip (A-C) in a 60-year-old male show slowly progressive flattening and bony condensation over a period of 6 months (arrows). Serial scintigraphs (D-F) show initial photon defect and reactive hypervascularity in the femoral head followed by gradual revascularization (arrows).
