Anatomy of an effective latch for breastfeeding

Anatomy of an effective latch for breastfeeding
In an effective latch, the tip of the mother's nipple should be asymmetrically located high in the baby's mouth (near the junction of the hard and soft palate) and pointing toward the roof of the mouth. This positioning is designed to help the tongue contact the base of the nipple rather than its tip, which allows for free flow of milk and avoids nipple pain and injury.
