Individuals with HbSS or HbS-beta0-thalassemia from five studies were included (refer to the source document for the individual citations). The cumulative prevalence of silent cerebral infarcts (SCI) are graphed according to age. The graph shows that the prevalence of SCI increases and does not plateau from childhood to adulthood.
