Florida water moccasin

Florida water moccasin (Agkistrodon conanti) or cottonmouth, southern Georgia. This young adult is gaining the characteristic solid black color of a mature water moccasin near the tail but still displays the brown and yellow vertical bands typical of juvenile water moccasins. "Cottonmouth" comes from the white color of the oral cavity.
