Superficial femoral artery recanalization

Superficial femoral artery recanalization
A 67-year-old presented with severe claudication not responding to medical management. The arteriogram showed a 6 cm distal superficial femoral artery occlusion (arrow; A) that reconstituted the popliteal artery. The occlusion was crossed using a stiff glidewire, and luminal entry in the popliteal artery was verified on arteriogram (B). The lesion was angioplastied using a 5 mm x 15 cm balloon for 2 minutes (C). Brisk flow resulted with no residual stenosis (D).
