Use of reentry device for arterial recanalization

Use of reentry device for arterial recanalization
This patient had a long SFA occlusion, which was treated after crossing the lesion using a reentry catheter. The left lower extremity arteriogram (A) shows a proximal SFA occlusion with reconstitution of the proximal popliteal artery with abundant collaterals (B). A wire was passed subintimally (C) and a reentry catheter (Pioneer) was used to regain access to the lumen of the popliteal artery (dashed arrow; D). A long balloon was used to angioplasty the vessel (E), and a stent was placed. The completion arteriogram shows unimpeded flow from the proximal SFA (F) through the stented region (arrow; G) to the distal popliteal artery.
SFA: superficial femoral artery.
