This table lists commonly used examples. The publication dates are per provider websites (last accessed June 2018).
* Standardized in the United States. It provides cognitive, language, and motor scores and assesses social-emotional and adaptive behavior up to 42 months (3.5 years).
¶ These instruments include parent questionnaires (the Bayley-4 Social-Emotional and Adaptive Behavior Scales Questionnaires [2019] and Griffiths-III Parent Questionnaire [2020]) that allow remote assessment when in-person assessment is not possible.
Δ Standardized in the United Kingdom. The 2015 version replaces older versions commonly used internationally. It examines the foundations of learning; language and communication; eye-hand coordination (includes fine motor and visual perception); and gross motor, personal-social-emotional, and independent strengths and needs up to 72 months (6 years).
Most commonly used caregiver-reported adaptive tool. It is available in both English and Spanish. The 2016 version replaces the commonly used Vineland-2 (2006).
§ These instruments have the capacity to identify adaptive impairment in a single domain as defined by the DSM-5.
