Iliac artery repair using hypogastric artery

Iliac artery repair using hypogastric artery
The picture shows an injury to the external iliac artery (A; arrow). In the face of severe bowel contamination, iliac injuries can be repaired using native vein or by using the ipsilateral hypogastric artery. The hypogastric artery was ligated and displaced to a more anterior position (B) and anastomosed to the distal external iliac artery (arrowhead), which had been debrided. The injured iliac artery was ligated and transected (C; dashed arrow).
