MRI of enlarged parotid glands in a patient with Sjögren's disease

Magnetic resonance imaging of enlarged parotid glands in a patient with Sjögren's disease.

(A) In this T1 axial image, multiple punctate low-signal foci are present diffusely throughout both parotid glands.

(B) In this T2 STIR image, the same foci have high signal intensity. An inhomogeneous fine or coarse nodular parenchyma is characteristic of involvement of the parotid gland in Sjögren's disease[1].
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; STIR: short tau inversion recovery.
