* In the case of an RHD-negative result, the detection of a male fetus confirms the presence of fetal DNA. If the fetus is female, the laboratory report for the SensiGene RHD test from Integrated Genetics contains the following qualifying statement: "Thus while the reported result is highly likely to be correct within the reported analytical sensitivity and specificity (100 and 99.3 percent, respectively), the possibility of failure to purify fetal DNA from this maternal blood specimen cannot be formally excluded. Close monitoring of the pregnancy is suggested."
