Operative photo of trocar placement for robotic left colectomy utilizing the Xi system. Trocars 1 through 4 accommodate the four operating arms that the surgeon controls. Trocars 1 through 3 are 8 mm, while trocar 4 is 12 mm. A1 and A2 are trocars for the assistant's use. In this example, A1 is 5 mm, and A2 is 8 mm because it is connected to an integrated insufflator/smoke evacuator (ie, AirSeal). The wound protector (WP) at the suprapubic area allows for intracorporeal anastomosis and specimen extraction.
