Compartment syndrome from tourniquet

The picture shows the upper extremity of a young woman who developed compartment syndrome caused by a tourniquet placed in response to a traumatic hand amputation. The tourniquet had been placed in a prehospital setting and was in place for approximately four hours during transport. Upper extremity fasciotomy was performed using a lateral incision.
