Absorption spectrum of protoporphyrin IX

The major peak at approximately 400 nm is targeted during blue light photodynamic therapy. Amongst the other smaller peaks in the spectrum, the 635 nm peak (targeted by red light) is advantageous because this peak is unique to PPIX (not shared by heme in blood).
