In a ventral mesh rectopexy, the anterior wall of the rectum is sutured to a mesh that is affixed to the sacral promontory (shown) or Cooper’s ligament. Ventral mesh rectopexy is typically performed laparoscopically; either biologic or nonabsorbable meshes can be used.
