Stress fractures of the femoral neck are a frequent complication of osteoporosis and are also found in long distance runners.
(A) AP Hip. Note that the stress fracture can be appreciated by the radiopaque transverse band, which is present in the area of the femoral neck (arrow).
(B) Bone scan, hip. Observe the focal area of increased radionuclide uptake in the area of the stress fracture of the femoral neck (arrow).
