The mesosalpinx is closed. A purse-string stitch of the mesosalpinx around the exteriorized tubal stump secures it in a position open to the abdomen, whereas the ligated proximal stump is buried within the mesosalpinx. Once the purse-string suture is tied, the hemostat can be removed.
