Notes
  • In the hands, the joints that are evaluated include the 1st through 5th MCP joints, the IP joint of the thumb, and the 2nd through 5th PIP joints.
  • The GH parameter represents the patient's self-assessment of disease activity on a 0 to 100 scale where 100 means maximal disease activity.
  • A DAS-28 reduction by 0.6 represents a moderate improvement. A reduction by more than 1.2 represents a major improvement.
  • IP: interphalangeal joint; MCP: metacarpophalangeal joint; PIP: proximal interphalangeal joint.

DAS28-ESR = ( 0.56 * sqr(Tender joint count (TJC))) + (0.28 * sqr(Swollen joint count (SJC))) + ( 0.7 * ln(ESR)) + (0.014 * Global health (GH))
